BMW 520i engines are also employing the twin scroll turbochargers and high precision injection, double VANOS system and variable camshaft control system with valvtronic valve timing control system. As the 520d diesel engines are powered by variable turbine geometry and the most modern common rail fuel delivery system with an injection pressure of more than 2500 bar. It is additionally equipped with BMW Blue Performance system on the exhausts. It is a system that incorporates the diesel particulate filters and oxidation catalysts with NOx storage catalysts. The all new 520d is also powered by an exhaust gases after treatment system to reduce the carbon footprints on all diesel models. BMW 520d and 530d diesel engines are the most engines offered on any of the BMW models. The 520d four cylinder engines are capable of generating 190hp from 4000rpm and unleashes the mountain of twisting power of torque of just under 300 lb-ft. that starts flowing from just 1750 rpm till 2500 rpm. All this power transferred to the eight speed steptronic transmission that handles it accordingly and shifts over the wheels. There is a six speed transmission available and it is also standard. Fuel economy of the 520d diesel models with the steptronic transmission is just over 70 miles per gallon and carbon emissions of 107g/km. this excellent model can sprint from zero to 662 miles per hour in just under 8 seconds and the top speed is again electronically controlled at 147 miles per hour.
BMW 530d diesel engines are also being treated with the all new twin turbo technology and added with all the Efficient Dynamics features to attain the output of 265hp from same 4000 engine rpms and a maximum torque of 457 lb-ft from 2000 to 2500 engine rpms. The straight six engine is the best power generator that beats the model it replaces with some sufficient margins. Apart from its practical life performance figures, the 530d engines are very good fuel savers and return the fuel economy of way over 662 miles per gallon on average, however on the motorway, they have lot much tell their own tale. The carbon emissions on this model are a bit heavy compare to the 520d but they are still in control according to the engine size. With more than 12 percent reduction in the carbon emissions, the 530d engine emits only 116g/km. it completes the 62 miles per hour sprint on just over 5 seconds and top speed again electronically controlled to 155 miles per hour.
